Bedourie is located on Eyre Creek, half way between Birdsville to the south and Boulia to the north (each about 200 km away), in central west Queensland. The town is the administrative centre for Diamantina Shire in the Channel Country. The Bedourie Hotel was built in the 1880's of adobe bricks and is still operating today. Bedourie Racetrack comes alive three times a year, for a gymkhana in June, a camel race in July and the Bedourie races meeting in September. The Simpson Desert Oasis provides fuel, a supermarket, motel, cabins, caravan park and a licensed restaurant. Bedourie also has an Aquatic Centre featuring an artesian spa.

The Bedourie Outback Golf Course is located on the edge of town on the road to the North, alongside Lakes Larry and Sampson. As well as plenty of sand traps and one tee at the top of a sand dune, the course also has several permanent water hazards. The club presents the opportunity to experience true Australian Outback Golf.

More information at Diamantina Bedourie and at Queensland Holidays.

Accommodation is available at the historic Bedourie Hotel - Established in 1886 and having continuous license since that time. Built of adobe bricks, the only structural change has been to replace the thatched roof with iron. And don't worry, inside today is fully Air Conditioned! Accommodation is also available at the Simpson Desert Oasis, and includes motel, cabin and caravan park facilities.
